One morning | opened the window to the still-dark, fresh morning air. With the cool morning air on my face, I inhaled the new day. At that moment, | realized that this simple daily pleasure was an important moment of connection that wove joy into life. A life savouring these pleasures would be a life well spent.
I became a simple pleasures addict, collecting my own and others’ simple pleasures. In the model of Tibetan prayer flags, from an old linen sheet full of dream, | sewed the simple pleasures into a flag string to send the small joys out into this troubled world we live in as a reminder, a call to action to protect what we love about life on this planet.
The Simple Pleasures Project is a multi-faceted project that includes an Installation, of the simple pleasure flag work shop, the flags, photos and videos of the flags on tour and 4 paintings that include original poetry scratched or painted onto the surface of the painting. Each piece component can be experienced separately or as the whole ‘project’ of this, collection of works together.
